Brew Review – Einstok Icelandic Toasted Porter Beer

This week’s review focuses on a Porter styled beer from Iceland! I did promise that I would aim to review beer and ciders from all parts of the world. The Porter being reviewed this week is from the Einstok Brewing Company in Akureyri, Iceland, which is in the north of the country close to the Artic Circle.

Einstok Brewing Company have a simple motto: “Drink, Conquer, Repeat” and with a motto like that, how could I not take notice!

I’ve generally been a stout drinker over the years, but Porter’s have really started to grow on me of recent times. The hints of chocolate and coffee (of which I am big fans of) are what makes a Porter unique and something that makes them approachable and appealing. The Einstok Porter was very drinkable, not too heavy, with a hint of sweetness. Don’t for a moment think they are only a winter beer, a properly chilled Porter is a great thirst quencher.

This was a nice Porter, definitely one I would consider drinking again. It would go well with BBQ or roasted meats. It’s an ideal beer for all year round.
