The best of the best at Fine Food Australia

Returning to Melbourne to celebrate its 30th birthday, Fine Food Australia is the largest and most relevant food event of its kind in the southern hemisphere – so it makes sense that it’s also where the best of the best in the food industry show off! In 2014, some of Australia’s most innovative and prestigious brands will launch new products on-site, and the most talented in the country will battle it out in Australia’s most prestigious food competitions.

Two of the nation’s great food loves – pizza and pies – are at the heart of what will no doubt be popular competitions, the National Pizza Championship and the much-loved Great Aussie Pie Competition. The National Pizza Championship will see hopefuls compete for their spot on the national team through cooking, spinning and wowing with acrobatic skills. The original and biggest nationally recognised pie competition in the country, the Great Aussie Pie Competition will again attract thousands of entries from bakers across Australia, and launching alongside the event this year is the first ever Sausage Roll competition!

Another new competition launching, thanks to the highly respected Les Toques Blanches, is aptly named the Rapid Fire Chef Competition. Chefs will be put through their paces, racing against the clock to produce dishes where it’s only the quality of the product and the time taken to produce all items that determines the winner.  Also challenging our Chefs, the Culinary Challenge is back for 2014 and is gearing up for its best year yet! Chefs of the highest calibre and skill level will compete to showcase their talents and will be judged by a panel of international, interstate and local judges. From front of house service to the creation of stunning centrepieces, apprentices and seasoned Chefs alike battle it out to be the best in their category.

The Bake Skills zone will see apprentice bakers from each state compete in a live bakery challenge across 26 different product categories including specialty & artisan breads, on the show floor as part of Bake Skills Australia. From the action at Best Young Baker to the excitement at Best Young Pastry Chef to the mouth wateringly challenging Callebaut Chocolate Centre Piece Award – 2014’s Bake Skills Zone won’t disappoint!

New products are also competing to be named the best of the year, and there are a host of exciting new products also set to wow at this year’s show including:

– The Blue Monkey Coconut Collection including Organic Coconut Chips and a new flavor, Coconut Chocolate.

– New Zealand owned and operated VitalZing will be launching their range of healthy enhanced waters to the Australian market.

– Xocolatl Brokers will be bringing some of the world’s best chocolate to Australia from Ecuador.

– SPC will be introducing some exciting new Pacific produce to FFA including Sea Grapes, Tropical Honey, Coconut Health Bites and Vanilla Beans.

– MOO Premium Food will be using FFA for the national release of their new Dahi Indian-Style Yoghurt.

– J.C’s Quality Foods will be launching two new products at FFA.
