Annie Smithers Returns to Middle Park Hotel

Hatted regional chef Annie Smithers will return to Middle Park Hotel next month, cooking up a Winter Garden Harvest dinner on Tuesday 2 June.

It’s the third time Smithers will make a guest appearance at Middle Park Hotel, a place she now fondly refers to as her “Melbourne Home”. The menu will focus on fresh winter produce, much of it sourced from Smithers’ kitchen garden which supplies her own restaurant, du Fermier, in Trentham in Central Victoria.

“Winter is brassica land – kale sprouts, cabbage and caulis,” says Smithers.

“There’ll also be mangel wurzel which delighted diners at my first ever Middle Park Hotel dinner last year. I’ll probably use it for a mash, which will go nicely with the main course – duck legs braised in cider with prunes,” she said.

Tickets are $130 per person for a four-course dinner, served with matching wines from Beechworth’s Indigo Vineyard.
