Donovans Ultimate Seafood Party by the Sea

Gail and Kevin Donovan are hosting the ultimate seafood party in their “backyard by the sea” at the iconic Donovans in St Kilda on Friday 7th March and this is one party that will go down in history!

Just 100 people will get to experience this amazing seafood celebration that will take over the restaurant and turn the beachside lawn into a huge outdoor kitchen.

The decadent menu includes mini crab cakes, tempura prawns, brioche rolls with lobster, aioli and cos, freshly shucked oysters, gravlax of salmon, whole stuffed baby squid on skewers, bowls of steamed mussels, seafood chowder, crispy Crystal Bay prawns and Hervey Bay scallops.

Guests will also be encouraged to get messy with the hammer and crack their way through chubby sand crabs at the crab stations – complete with bibs of course!

An outdoor kitchen will be created especially for the night with a festive seafood paella simmering away on the verandah. Swordfish medallions and of course Donovans famous Prawns with parsley, oregano and chilli will be fired up on the BBQ.

Devised as a special event as part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, the 2014 Festival theme of water was one that Gail and Kevin have been waiting for.

“By the sea is where we live and we wanted to showcase the best of what comes from the sea and our Joint Head Chefs Adam and Emma and their team can’t wait to present a spectacular feast.

“We love a good party and we have the best location in Melbourne. It will be a relaxed, fun night and of course lots of surprises are in store to make it a night to remember!” said Gail.

To keep guests refreshed, there will be cocktails and sparkling wine on arrival as well as great Victorian wines, beer and fruit punch, with prizes and vibrant entertainment throughout the night.

Try if you can to leave room for dessert which will include a Pie Picnic with Apple, Banoffee and Lemon Meringue Pie to name a few, as well as Fairy Floss, Caramel Popcorn, Honeycomb and Chocolate Crackles.
