Lungo Pranzo Italian Feast at Public INN

Acclaimed Country Victorian chef Douglas Elder will be Public INN’s guest chef at this year’s annual Castlemaine event Lungo Pranzo.

Lungo Pranzo translates literally into “Long Lunch” and will be held this year on Saturday 6th September.

Public INN director Hayden Winch has invited long- time friend Douglas Elder, Executive chef at Patricia’s Table, the award winning dining room of the Brown Brothers Winery in Milawa, to present his well-travelled and highly experienced love of Southern Italian cuisine.

Elder’s cooking has been described by The Age Good Food Guide as “comforting but refined modern Italian dishes” and will be utilising exemplary North-Eastern Victorian produce combined with standout producers of the local region. Both restaurants currently hold enviable Age Good Food Guide ratings of 14.5 and are excited to collaborate and showcase the fabulous culinary talent found in Regional Victoria.

Winch and Elder first met at the beginning of their impressive hospitality careers working together for a number of years at Daylesford’s famed Lakehouse, and will use their combined wealth of knowledge in Central Victorian and North Eastern produce to create the informal, family oriented Italian menu with matching Italian wine varietals.

The long, slow Italian feast event is deliciously informal, and created specifically to bring family and friends together to enjoy an afternoon of multiple shared courses where each is replenished as the previous dish is devoured.

Guests will take their place at communal tables, with the beautiful interiors of Public INN being transformed for a day to provide the essence of an Italian trattoria. . The style is casual, but the quality is exceptional.

Booking are now available via Public INN’s website for Saturday 6th September, the luncheon event begins at 12pm, and finished at 4pm. $85 per guest, and ticket price includes three shared courses, Italian inspired aperitif and guests’ selection of a glass of white or red Italian wine. Additional beverages are available for purchase, from the extensive Public INN beverage list and barrel wall selection.
