All front of house and kitchen staff from The Point Albert Park along with Executive Chef, Franck Castellana, and manager, Owen Gibbons, will finish up with the restaurant after this Sunday, May 13.
Staff were told of the changes on May 5. Castellana commenced his position as Executive Chef in December 2017, launching his first menu in January this year. Gibbons has been with The Point since January 2016.
In an email received this afternoon, ChengCheng (Aust) Enterprise Melbourne Pty Ltd – the operators of the The Point Albert Park, advised a new business direction for the fine dining restaurant.
Restaurant Manager, Locky Wang, said “from a business point of view, our owner intended to change the business pattern to similar to what it was before Hidden Jade (the Sichuan restaurant on the ground floor): one restaurant and various function spaces.
The email also acknowledged the goodwill The Point has received over the years, stating the new incarnation will focus more on private functions with Western and Asian style cuisine.
