Acclaimed chef Ikuei Arakane has joined the line-up of world-class chefs who will cook for A Night To Remember, a fundraising event to be hosted by Alzheimer’s Australia Vic at the RACV City Club on 30 May.
Known as ‘Kin San’, Arakane has headed many award-winning restaurants including Taxi Dining Room and Koko in Melbourne and is also known for his regular appearances on the cult Japanese television show ‘Iron Chef’. His career highlight includes organizing Iron Chef Events in Australia. Kin San was recently announced as head chef at The Glass House in Hobart.
Kin San is joining Chef De Cuisine Jeffrey Tan (IPF Culinary Consultancy Services), Executive Chef Mark Normoyle (RACV City Club) and Executive Pastry Chef Pierrick Boyer (Le Petit Gateau) who have supported the event since it began in 2012.
Also new to the line-up of chefs is Crystal Jones, currently Chef De Cuisine at RACV City Club. Crystal completed her apprenticeship at three hat restaurant Vue de monde under the guidance of Shannon Bennett. She has also worked at celebrated two Michelin star restaurant in London, Tom Aikens and spent four years as Chef de Cuisine of the Al Rawdha Palace, official residence for the Royal family in Bahrain.
Alzheimer’s Australia Vic CEO Maree McCabe said “We’re thrilled Kin San has joined our wonderful group of chefs. They’re all so generous with their time as well as their connections who support the event by supplying all of the ingredients. Seeing them collaborate and work so hard to support people impacted by dementia is inspiring”.
Singer Darren Percival, star of the 2012 season of The Voice, will entertain guests and Emmy award-winning foreign correspondent, author and commentator Sara James will MC the event.
A Night To Remember will bring together 330 guests and feature five delicious courses with matching wine, with each chef responsible for one course. The night promises to be a unique culinary experience and a celebration of Melbourne’s reputation as the culinary capital of Australia.
The event will feature auctions of a wide variety of goods including several exclusive holiday packages and money-can’t-buy experiences. Funds raised at A Night To Remember will help Alzheimer’s Australia Vic raise vital funds to deliver essential programs and services for people with dementia, their carers and families, many of whom come to the organisation in crisis.
A Night To Remember will be held on Saturday 30 May at RACV City Club, Level 17, 501 Bourke Street, Melbourne. Tickets are $330 each.
