Tucked away in the entrance to Acland Street’s hippest haunt, Acland St Cantina, is the newly opened Cantina Bar – a boozy, woody, speakeasy style saloon delivering a new school squeeze on traditional doses of TexMex drink where deep, dark, Southern flavours reign supreme.
Formerly home to the Acland St Cantina’s light-filled café and diner, the curtains have been drawn and tequila, mezcal, whisky and rum headline an extensive menu of smoky cocktails, hard liquor sips and beers from afar. A small, but carefully curated, Bocadito menu balances the big, boozy cocktail and beverage offer with substantial bites including beef short rib sliders with huitacocahe and al pastor pork skewers with pickled pineapple and adobe.
Open 5pm until late, seven nights a week, Cantina Bar offers a perfect hideaway for a pre‐dinner sip or late night tipple. With $10 cocktails from 5pm – 7pm, Monday to Friday, this exciting new space may be just the remedy to beat those winter blues.
