Melbourne International Coffee Expo 2016

Us Melburnian’s are such keen beans for coffee, we even have an acronym for the hot-cup-of-awesome expo; MICE. The Melbourne International Coffee Expo is running from the 17th to the 19th of March, sharing the Melbourne Showgrounds with the Cake Expo on the 19th! Because what goes better than coffee and cake? If you say coffee and coffee, then this it the expo for you.

The GRAM team will be heading down, and The GRAM Store will be popping up, so swing by and visit us at our caffeine-buzzed stall. Pop by other exhibitors such as ACME & CO Cups, Axil Coffee Roasters, Mocopan and even T2 for a bit of variety.

Check out a barista battle. Meet producers and roasters, and sample enough to get even your Melbourne coffee brain turning jittery. Wash it down with a trip to the Food Village, with treats from Melbourne’s best food trucks, or snack on a sneaky sweet from the Cake Expo if you head down on the Saturday.

Melbourne loves to keep things fresh (ly ground), and this year MICE are collaborating with Sensory Lab to host the Product Innovation Awards, celebrating original ideas created in the last 12 months. But not only for the experts and long-time coffee-connoisseurs, if you’re keen to brush up on your knowledge of the bean, you can enroll to attend one of a range of barista training and coffee education sessions.

Trade passes are available if you’re in the industry, or a public pass if you’re just coffee-mad and love a good pour. Either way, Bombora are handing out some extra hot (without burning the milk) prizes to some lucky purchasers, from an Espresso Forge Kit to BonaVita steeping filters. All attendees will also be gifted a Coffee Lover’s Handbook, perfect reading material while you’re sipping on your single origin double-shot.

So check out some new grounding techniques while you’re at the Showgrounds, and don’t be afraid to share your #latteart appreciation with the world.
